Online Support Group

Click Here for our online support group. If you do not already have a Google Groups membership, you will be asked to sign up before you can join the online group. It only takes about 2 minutes to complete the process and it well worth it.

Support Group Meetings

There is a support group the second Tuesday of each month at Mercy Medical Center. We encourage active participation in the support groups. Involvement in support groups can dramatically increase your chances of success.

Patient Education session is available from 6-7pm. Support Group meeting begins promptly at 7PM at Mercy Medical Center

Information Seminars

New York Bariatric Group holds seminars throughout the year for those interested in knowing more about LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Band and gastric bypass surgeries. Attending on of our free seminars is a great way to learn more about the services we offer and to find out if you are a good candidate for surgery. We hold monthly information seminars here in New York. During the seminar, we review in detail our specific treatments, the background and experience of our doctors, as well as a tour of our facility. If you would like to register for one of our monthly information seminars, contact our office.

Directions: Take Southern State Pkwy to Peninsula Blvd S. Exit 19S toward Rockville Ctr.

As you enter the Mercy Medical Center campus, follow the signs to St. Annes Center. You will drive around the main hospital and pass several other buildings. Continue around until you see St. Annes Center on your right. A short distance past the main entrance to St. Annes Center you will see a patient parking area. You may park in this area free of charge.

NOTE: There are several long parking spots that will accommodate more than one car. Since you will all be leaving together at the end of the meeting, please do not leave any empty space in front of you. This will help us to be able to accommodate all of our group members.

You will then enter through the back door of the main hospital building - (do not enter through St. Annes Center). Go through two consecutive doors, and take the elevator immediately to your left to the lower level. Make left and proceed to the employee cafeteria.

Call 877-LOSEWGT for a recorded message on the status of the meeting. This number will have information about whether or not the session will be cancelled due bad weather or the need to cancel for any reason.

Agenda Summary:

• Support group is for pre-op and post-op gastric bypass patients.
• Questions and answers with Shawn Garber, M.D., F.A.C.S. and Spencer Holover, M.D. of the New York Bariatric Group and discussions between patients of their experiences with gastric bypass surgery and lap band surgery.
