Q:  I had Gastric Bypass surgery I lost most of my weight but never reached my goal and now I have gained back about 45 to 50 lbs of my weight back, does the insurance pay for the ROSE procedure even if your BMI isn't 35 or 40 or do you have to gain all your weight back
A:  Insurance coverage for the ROSE procedure is variable. Some insurance companies consider it experimental and some will cover the procedure if we can document medical necessity. I recommend you come in for a consultation and an endoscopy to check your gastric pouch to see if you qualify.
Q:  do i need to be a certain weight or size to qualify?
A:  To qualify for bariatric surgery you need a BMI of 40 with no medical problems or a BMI of 35 with a medical problem related to obesity like sleep apnea, hypertension, or diabetes. You can figure out your BMI by clicking on the BMI link on the top of the webpages. The Lap-Band should be approved for BMI of 30 - 35 in the near future.
Q:  I had gastric-bypass surgery March 6, 2006. I have not lost all the weight I was supposed too. I am embrassed and feel like a failure. What do I do now? Is there any hope?
